CLEARFIELD – The efforts of the Curwensville Girls Softball Team were recognized or their state championship on Tuesday when the Clearfield County Commissioners proclaimed June 23, 2009 as Curwensville Girls Softball Team Day in Clearfield County.

The Curwensville Lady Tide defeated Old Forge 1-0 earlier this month in Shippensburg for the PIAA Class A championship.

“We’re really proud of you for your effort,” Commissioner Chair Joan Robinson-McMillen told members of the team that were present at the meeting.

McMillen added that the girls’ efforts shine a light on Clearfield County, especially Curwensville. She told the girls that if they take hold of their futures with the same effort and self respect they showed while competing, they would succeed.
