CLEARFIELD – The Lawrence Township Police Department reported that the search for suspects in yesterday’s reported stabbing case has ended, leading police to the man who made the complaint.
According to the prior story at around 9 a.m. Monday a man entered the police station and advised that he had been robbed and stabbed. Officers contacted emergency medical services and had them respond as the man had three 1 inch stab marks to his abdominal area.
The man told police that he was walking along the railroad tracks behind the Ameri-Gas building in Hyde when two men approached him and asked him for money.
He told police that one of the men struck him with a tree limb. He was then stabbed three times with a foreign object by the second man.
The LTPD stated on Wednesday that through investigation they found the alleged victim’s statement and that physical evidence did not support his allegation. Officers later spoke with him and he admitted that the assault did not occur and that the stabbing was self-inflicted.
Charges against the man for making false reports are pending further investigation.
