CLEARFIELD – On Wednesday, April 25, a very special event will be taking place at Parker Dam State Park. It will be the First Annual Multi County Earth Day Celebration. Close to 100 high school students from seven Clearfield, Elk and Jefferson County schools will converge on Parker Dam State Park for a day of fun and learning.
This event is being planned as a cooperative effort between DuBois High School, the Department of Conservation and Natural Resources Bureau of Forestry and Bureau of State Parks, and the Clearfield County Conservation District and will include a wide range of environmental education opportunities.
There will be a variety of presentations, including Bob Eriksen from the National Wild Turkey Federation, Cliff Cessna from Pa Wildlife Habitat Unlimited and George Kutskel with Trout Unlimited. There will also be Alternative Fuel demonstrations by Todd Stoltz from Stoltz Toyota Scion, and Gary Gilmore from DCNR. Local story-teller Dennis Murray will provide a historical presentation on logging, and Keely Roen from PSU DuBois will be demonstrating Radio Telemetry. Representatives from DCNR and the Clearfield County Conservation District will be providing other hands-on educational activities.
Activities are slated to begin at 9 a.m. and run until 1 p.m.
This event has been made possible by financial support from County National Bank and DCNR Bureau of Forestry
