CLEARFIELD – A heavy snow warning has been issued in the Clearfield County region by the National Weather Service in State College. The heavy snow warning is in effect from 9 a.m. Tuesday to 4 p.m. Wednesday.
A winter storm that is still developing off to our west and south will spread snow over Pennsylvania during the day of Tuesday. Periods of sleet are possible in the northern mountains Tuesday night and early Wednesday, but most of the precipitation should all be snow.
Snow is expected to spread over Pennsylvania during the day on Tuesday, with 4 inches expected by Tuesday night, with heavier snowfall expected Tuesday night to early Wednesday. Scattered showers are likely on Wednesday.
The storm should taper off to scattered snow showers during the day on Wednesday. Total snowfall amounts of over a foot are likely accross northern Pennsylvania. Any sleet will cut down the total snow accumulations.
A heavy snow warning means a significant amount of snow is forecast that will make travel dangerous.
PennDOT also reminds travelers to keep safe during this snow warning. Road crews will be out plowing and treating the roads. Maintenance crews will be out prior to the snowy weather performing pre-treatment on major roadways. PennDOT crews will remain out as weather conditions require.
Motorists are reminded to drive according to road and weather conditions, allow extra distance when following another vehicle, allow for extra travel time, and to always buckle up.
