WILKES-BARRE – The Department of Environmental Protection will hold a public hearing next month on the initial air quality plan approval applications for the proposed Green Energy Renewable Energy, Ethanol and Nutrition-Holding, LLC distribution and storage facility, in Porter and Frailey townships, Schuylkill County.
The public hearing will be held at 7 p.m., Thursday, Feb.8 in the auditorium of the Williams Valley High School, Route 209 in Tower City.
The public hearing will focus on the company’s Air Quality plan approval applications for a proposed biofuel storage tank and distribution terminal and accompanying air pollution control equipment.
The company has not yet submitted its Air Quality plan approval applications for a proposed ethanol manufacturing facility to be located at the site, and a separate public hearing will be scheduled once that application is received and the department’s review is underway.
In order to develop an agenda for the hearing, the department requests that individuals wishing to testify at the hearing submit a written notice of such intent to: Green Holdings Public Hearing, PA DEP, Air Quality Program, 2 Public Square, Wilkes-Barre, PA 18711-0790. The department will accept notices up to the day of the hearing.
DEP requests that individuals limit their testimony to 10 minutes so that everyone has an opportunity to testify. Written copies of testimony also are requested. Relinquishing of time will not be allowed. All individuals attending the hearing will have the opportunity to testify if they so desire, however, individuals who pre-register to testify will be given priority on the agenda.
People with disabilities who wish to testify and require an auxiliary aid, service or other accommodations should contact Christine Domashinski of DEP at 570-826-2511 or the Pennsylvania AT&T relay service at 1-800-654-5984 (TDD) to discuss how the department can meet their needs.
The permit application is available for review at DEP’s Northeast Regional Office at 2 Public Square in Wilkes-Barre. Appointments for scheduling a review of the application can be made by calling DEP’s Record’s Management Section at 570-826-2511.
