Windstorm Causes Power Outages in the Area

CLEARFIELD – Clearfield Penelec Area Manager John Shimko reported that because of the high winds and Friday afternoon, about 8,000 Penelec customers had their electric service interrupted.

Shimko said that the areas hit the hardest were DuBois and Punxsutawney. As of Friday at about 5:30, 5,000 customers had their power restored. Shimko said crews would continue to work through the evening and night to get power back to the remaining affected customers.

He also warned folks to treat all downed lines as energized and dangerous, and to report downed lines and power outages to 1-88-478-8465.

Shimko also thanked the customers for their patience and understanding during the restoration efforts.
