Brookville — After beating the Brookville Raiders in 35 chilly degrees, the Clearfield 9th graders raised their record to 5-2; clinching a winning season.
Clearfield got on the scoreboard on their opening drive of the night, Luke Bell scoring from 5 yards out. The extra point was missed.
Tyler Davis added a second Clearfield score in the second quarter on a 7 yard run. Luke Bell added the 2 point conversion to give Clearfield a 14-0 halftime lead.
Brookville got on the board early in the third quarter on a 65 yard sweep around the right end by Heschke. After a quarterback keeper tacked on the 2 point conversion, Brookville was back in the game at 14-8.
Late in the 4th quarter, Clearfield was trying to run out the clock to end the game. Unfortunately a muffed toss sweep turned the ball back over to Brookville at the 30 yard line.
With only 30 yards to travel to tie and potentially win the game, Brookville went no where but backwards against the staunch Bison \”D\”. Clearfield took over on downs after repeatedly sacking the Brookville QB.
This time Clearfield took 2 \”knees\”, and the game was over, 14-8.
The 9th graders are off next week, then finish their season on October 26th at Central Mountain.
The 8th graders dropped another close game, 12-6, to drop to 2-5 on the season.
The lone TD was scored by Jordan Voss on a \”lightning pass\”.
The 7th and 8th graders return to the gridiron next Wednesday at 4:00 and 6:00 PM respectively against Altoona Roosevelt.
