HIRAM, Ohio – Freshman goalkeeper Michelle Welker of Clearfield registered her fifth shutout of the season as the Allegheny College women’s soccer team broke into the North Coast Athletic Conference win column by defeating Hiram College 5-0 Wednesday afternoon.
Welker had to make only three saves on the Terriers\’ six shots as she lowered her goals-against average to 0.71. For the season, she has allowed only eight goals in 65 shots, a save percentage of 87.7.
The Gators are 8-3 in the games she\’s been in goal and are 8-5, 1-2 in the NCAC.
Last Saturday, Welker came up with seven saves against No. 10 ranked Denison University in a 1-0 NCAC loss. The winners (10-1, 2-0) outshot the Gators 25-4.
Allegheny travels to Richmond, Ind., Saturday to play Earlham
