MLKC to host ceremony to remember pets

CLEARFIELD – The Mountain Laurel Kennel Club will hold its annual Pet Memorial and Healing Service

June 25 at 6 p.m. at Christ United Methodist Church in Clearfield with the Rev. Rodger Gorton and the Rev. Virginia Eminhizer of Emmanuel United Methodist Church officiating.

New to the event this year, which is sponsored by the Kevin A. Beardsley Funeral Home, is the healing portion of the service, which will offer intercessory prayers for ill and ailing animals.

Healing cloths, embroidered by MLKC member Sandy Malinich, will be available for participants to take home. They are also invited to bring a toy or other item of their pets’ to be blessed.

The service will culminate in a candle lighting ceremony to remember deceased pets of any kind that passed away at any time.

There will also be a time for sharing stories, memories and readings.

A reception will follow in the church fellowship hall.
