CLEARFIELD – The Friends of the Area Agency on Aging is gearing up for an annual meeting scheduled for Friday at 2 p.m. at the Clearfield Senior Center at 103 N. Front St.
The Friends of the Area Agency on Aging was formed in July 1992 with the purpose of promoting and supporting the programs and services of the Clearfield County Area Agency on Aging and its charitable foundation, Mature Resources Foundation.
Several items will be discussed and voted upon.
In the past, the auxiliary has funded informational packets for Meals On Wheels consumers, computer equipment, Automated External Defibrillators for the senior centers in Clearfield County and more recently, the walk-in cooler at the new Meal Production and Distribution Facility. According to CCAAA Marketing Coordinator Joan Robinson McMillen, anyone can join the auxiliary.
“You don’t have to be elderly to join,” said McMillen.
The cost is $7 per person or $10 per couple. New this year is a discount card for area merchants that is given with a membership purchase.
People can join as active or social members. “As an active member, you will have the opportunity to participate in the annual membership drive and the annual Anne S. Thacik Charity Auction.”
All auxilliary members are encouraged to attend the meeting. Two Pirate tickets will be given away at the meeting.
