CLEARFIELD – A Community Service Day took place in Clearfield on July 6 through the efforts of the Potter Baseball Traveling Team and a partnership with the Clearfield Revitalization Corporation.
Twenty four of the team’s players, ages 13-15, swept sidewalks, pulled weeds, and washed windows throughout downtown’s Main Street District. Over 100 storefronts were cleaned in just under four hours.
Clearfield’s own Brandon Orsich was team captain for the event. Clearfield’s visit was day 15 of a 24-day tour, as their two games in town were complemented by community service. The tour takes them all over Pennsylvania, Ohio and Maryland.
Potter Baseball Head Coach Jeff Potter, stated, “This was a great event, and we look forward to returning to Clearfield in the future to take on an even bigger project.”
CRC’s President Dr. Keely Casteel commented, “Potter Baseball reiterates everything the CRC stands for, which is bringing out the best of a community. In this case it was incorporating the teen boys with community service in downtown Clearfield. Washing windows and pulling weeds are life skills that are valuable for the kids to learn. In a setting like downtown, it is fun for the boys and a value to our small town businesses. Everyone involved did a wonderful job!”
