CLEARFIELD – Clearfield County District Attorney, William A. Shaw, Jr., announced the capture of a wanted fugitive.
Shaw identified the Fugitive as Charles Lese, age 52, of Park Avenue, Clearfield.
Lese was added to the Clearfield County Fugitive of the Week list on June 18, 2012.
On Nov. 3, 2011, Trooper Justin Jones of the Pennsylvania State Police, Clearfield Barracks, filed a criminal complaint charging Lese with: 1) driving under the influence of alcohol, M; 2) drivers required to be licensed, S; 3) careless driving, S; and 4) restraint systems, S.
An affidavit of probable cause filed by Jones states that on Oct. 15, 2011, while on routine patrol, troopers observed a vehicle abruptly drive off the roadway and stop under the overpass on state Route 153. Upon making contact with the driver of the vehicle, Jones detected signs of impairment and requested that Lese perform field sobriety tests. After administering the field sobriety tests, Lese was taken into custody and transported to the Clearfield Hospital for blood testing.
A preliminary hearing was held on Dec. 7, 2011, at which time all charges were held to court. On May 17, 2012, Lese failed to appear for criminal call and a warrant was issued for his arrest.
Shaw stated that on June 21, 2012, Lese voluntarily surrendered himself to deputies from the Clearfield County Sheriff’s Office. Lese is currently lodged in the Clearfield County jail.
