CLEARFIELD – Truck traffic traveling on US Route 322 eastbound/state Route 153 southbound (Clearfield-Rockton Highway) in Lawrence Township, Clearfield County, will be reminded to of one of the most common types of aggressive driving behavior: speeding.
PennDOT recently placed a radar-controlled speed display sign showing a 25-mile-per-hour speed limit for trucks of more than 10,000 pounds gross weight traveling on US Route 322 eastbound/SR 153 southbound. The speed display sign uses radar to determine the speeds of oncoming traffic. Vehicle speeds are then posted on the lighted section of the sign. The speed limit for vehicles under 10,000 pounds gross weight in this area is 55 miles per hour.
Another speed display sign was placed on Route 2024 (Pleasant Hill Road) in Decatur Township, Clearfield County. The speed limit in this area is 35 miles per hour for all vehicles.
The speed display signs will remain on location for up to four weeks.
Speeding and other aggressive driving behaviors are among the leading causes of crashes and fatalities in Pennsylvania. Other aggressive driving behaviors include running stop signs or red lights, passing illegally and tailgating.
