Clearfield – A local businessman was on hand Thursday night to urge Clearfield Borough Council to consider cutting down old, dangerous trees.
Attorney John Sughrue in particular mentioned trees in Upper Witmer Park. He stated the canopy over the park is such that sunlight can’t reach the ground. He indicated that if any of the trees are unhealthy or dying, they pose a threat to the public. He also pointed to the number of large, unhealthy trees throughout the borough.
Borough Operations Manager Leslie Stott said the borough had worked with an arborist in the past to put together a spreadsheet of trees in the borough, and that they are ranked in relation to health.
“We’re looking at ways to remedy them,” Stott said of the unhealthy trees.
