CLEARFIELD – The Joseph & Elizabeth Shaw Public Library Dream Big: Read summer reading program kicks off June 11 with a carnival and storyteller. The Dream Big: Carnival will be held from 5:30 until 8:00 p.m. with games, food, prizes, and a special presentation from Jan Kinney sponsored by Walter Hopkins, LLC.
For those participants who have already registered online for the Dream Big: Read summer reading program, the kickoff event is the first opportunity to pick up the registration packet. Each registration packet includes a brochure of activities and events scheduled throughout the summer.
All those in attendance at Monday night’s carnival may enter their name into a prize drawing for a t-shirt. In addition, any youth who attends the carnival and stays for the Jan Kinney storytelling presentation may also register their name for the grand prize drawing at 8:00 p.m. The grand prize winner must be in attendance to win.
On June 11, participants can begin reading and logging books and minutes in order to earn incentives. All earned incentives can be redeemed at the Conservatory beginning July 9.
The summer reading program is open to all youth ages birth through the completion of fifth grade and all young adults who have completed sixth grade through eleventh grade. In addition, adults and recent high school graduates may also register for the adult summer reading program. All registrations for the summer reading program must be completed online at Shaw Public Library’s Web site. Participants may continue to register for the summer reading program online throughout the summer and visit the library to pick up their registration packet. Patrons without access to the Internet or with concerns about the online registration process may come to the library during normal business hours to receive assistance.
Shaw Public Library is open Mondays, Wednesdays, and Saturdays from 10:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m., Tuesdays and Thursdays from 10:00 a.m. until 9:00 p.m., and Fridays from 12:00 to 5:00 p.m. For questions about the Dream Big: Read summer reading program, please call (814) 765-3271.
