HOUTZDALE – PennDOT will soon lower a weight limit posting on the HoutzdaleBridgeover Beaver Run on Route 2013 (Third Street). The bridge is located just west of Houtzdale in WoodwardTownship, ClearfieldCounty.
On Tuesday, May 22, PennDOT will place signs that post the bridge for 12 tons for single vehicles and 19 tons for combination vehicles. The bridge had previously been posted for “one truck at a time”. Vehicles exceeding the posted weight limits must use an alternate route.
The decision to lower the posting was the result of a recent inspection. The Houtzdale Bridge was built in 1952 and is 26 feet long and carries an average of 250 vehicles per day. The posting will remain in place until repairs can be made.
