At approximately 11:59 a.m. Monday, police were dispatched to a single-vehicle accident at the intersection of Liberty Boulevard and Railroad Avenue. At arrival police made contact with the operator who advised he was approaching stopped traffic and attempted to apply his brakes. At that point, he advised that his brakes didn’t work so rather than rear-ending the vehicle ahead of him, he drove onto the curb. No one was injured in the mishap. His vehicle sustained moderate damage and was towed from the scene.
At approximately 1:20 p.m. Monday, police reported an incident of terroristic threats, harassment and criminal mischief that allegedly occurred because of a male who was residing in the 100 block of Quarry Avenue. Upon receiving the report and conducting an investigation, police filed charges against the male in question.
At approximately 8:33 p.m. Monday, police received reports about a male, Shane Bortz, who had warrants out for his arrest and who was staying at a residence in the 300 block of South Highland Street. Upon making contact with him, Bortz provided a different name to police. He was transported to the State Correctional Institution at Houtzdale, and charges will be filed against him for false identification.
At approximately 11:08 p.m. Monday, police were dispatched to a reported burglary in the 200 block of
South Main Street. At arrival police made contact with the victim who advised the suspect was a known male. The investigation is ongoing, and charges are currently pending.
