Charles E. Luce, 92, of Chestnut Grove, passed away April 27, 2012 at the DuBois Nursing Home.
Born April 17, 1920 In Rockton, PA, he was the son of Ralph Luce and Virgie (Shubert) Luce Gelnett. Mr. Luce had first worked for Simon Wolf Mining for 10 years, and then worked for Osborn Machine Co. as a foreman retiring after 27 years of service.
Mr. Luce enjoyed hunting, working in his garage, working on cars, and driving his John Deere Tractor.
On Oct. 3, 1941 in Luthersburg, he wed the former Alda Ruth Thomas who preceded him in death on Jan. 11, 2012. He was also preceded in death by his parents and two brothers Glenn and Ross O’Neil Luce. He was the last member of his generation.
Surviving are three Children John “Jack” Luce and Mary Ann Wright both of Chestnut Grove and Virgie Ellen Luce of Beverly Hills, CA, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services for Mr. Luce will be held at the Chester C. Chidboy Funeral Home, Inc. in Curwensville on May 4 at 1:00 p.m. with Reverend Charles M. Lee Jr. officiating. Interment will be in the Chestnut Grove Cemetery Grampian.
Friends will be received at the funeral home on May 3 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m., and Friday from Noon until time of services.
The family suggests contributions be made to the charity of the donor’s choice.
