BRADFORD – Heather Picard pitched her second one-hit shutout in her last three outings and the Clearfield Area High School softball team pounded 14 hits, half of them doubles, to defeat Bradford 10-0 in six innings Tuesday afternoon.
Pacing the Lady Bisons at the plate were freshman Nellie Wallace with a double and two singles, Lucy Kovalick with a pair of two-baggers and three runs driven in, Rachel Hoffman with a double and a single and three RBIs and Becca Byerly with two singles.
Picard, who blanked Bald Eagle Area 8-0 on April 20, retired the last 15 Lady Owls she faced after Lindsay Rinfrette blooped a single behind third base in the second inning.
The junior right-hander whiffed 10 and walked none in her third consecutive win.
A three-run double by Hoffman gave Clearfield (6-7) a 5-0 lead in the second inning.
Robyn McBride slugged a two-run double in the third, and Kovalick drove in the last three runs with doubles in the fourth and sixth frames.
Hitting streaks were continued by two Lady Bisons, Hoffman’s reaching 12 games and B.J. Bowman’s at eight after her fourth-inning double.
Clearfield will play Mountain League Allegheny Division road games against Tyrone Wednesday and Philipsburg-Osceola Friday.
