FALLS CREEK – The March of Dimes of Western Pennsylvania will be collecting money for a yearly campaign in the coming weeks, and police are letting the public know after an alleged scam had residents on alert last week.
State police at DuBois reported that two teen girls were going door to door soliciting money for a charity that did not exist but saying the funds would be used for premature babies. The girls reportedly said they were collecting money through the DuBois Area School District, but police confirmed that the school is not involved with any type of collection.
Police released an update, though, stating that representatives from the March of Dimes are to be in the area to collect money soon. Police advise that those with questions ask for a pamphlet before making a donation.
