David A. Sharp, 88 of Clearfield died on April 11, 2012 at his home, where he resided with his sister.
He was born on Sept. 3, 1923 in Brush Run, Clarion County, a son of the late Harry W. and Alverta (Macinch) Sharp.
Mr. Sharp was employed as a coal miner and worked sanitation services.
He was a member of Christian and Missionary Alliance Church, Clearfield and also a member of the Clearfield Veteran’s of Foreign Wars F. Michael Sicks Post #1785.
Mr. Sharp served with the U. S. Army during WWII.
He is survived by four children, Thelma Chutz of Slippery Rock, Pearl Hanes of St. Marys, Gary Sharp of North East and David Sharp of Kersey; six grandchildren and six great grandchildren; a sister Catherine Coder of Clearfield; and numerous nieces and nephews who were like his children.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three sisters, Martha Grace, Jesse Smith and Mable McFarland; a brother Alvin Sharp; a step sister Florence Saylor; and four step brothers, Harry, James and Frank Kougher and John Sharp.
Funeral services will be held at the Christian & Missionary Alliance Church, Clearfield, on Friday at 1 p.m. with Dr. Duane A. White officiating. Interment will follow in the Centre Cemetery, Hyde.
Friends will be received at the Kevin A. Beardsley Funeral Home, Clearfield on Thursday from 5-8 p.m. and at the church on Friday from noon until the hour of services.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial contributions be made to Christian and Missionary Alliance Church, 49 Alliance Road, Clearfield.
