CLEARFIELD – A Clearfield woman accused of arson after burning her boyfriends clothes in their apartment sink had a hearing on Wednesday.
Kimberly Kapsouris faces charges of arson, risking a catastrophe, reckless endangering, and criminal mischief for an incident that occurred on 112 North Fourth Street.
Police were called to North Fourth Street at 11:35 p.m. for a complaint of loud music. Police attempted to make contact with the tenant but had no response from inside the apartment. According to testimony, police cleared the scene but were called back about 20 minutes later for the same compliant.  Police made contact with the tenant, Kapsouris outside the apartment building. Police accompanied her back to her apartment. Upon entering the apartment, they found it to be full of smoke.
Upon investigating, they discovered that Kapsouris burned her boyfriend’s clothing inside the kitchen sink and inside the bathtub, causing damage to the apartment. According to testimony, Kapsouris was angry at her boyfriend after finding him with another woman at a local bar. Testimony also revealed that the damage done to the apartment was estimated at $1,058. That estimate took into account damage done to the kitchen sink, bathtub and smoke damage.
Defense attorney Chris Pentz argued against the arson and risking a catastrophe charges. The commonwealth asked for all charges to be bound over.
Magisterial District Judge Richard Ireland indicated he was not convinced of either side’s arguments, but bound all charges over. He also modified her bail from $50,000 straight to $25,000 straight.
