HUSTON TOWNSHIP – A 51-year-old Julian man sustained major injuries and was flown to the Altoona Hospital after a single-vehicle accident at 4:10 a.m. Thursday along Steele Hollow Road near East Mountain Road in Huston Township, Centre County.
The Philipsburg-based state police identified the accident victim as Charles Algernon Jones, 51, of Julian. Jones was traveling eastbound when he lost control of his vehicle for unknown reasons. Then, his vehicle traveled off the roadway, striking a tree with its front end.
During the investigation, state police discovered Jones had consumed alcohol. Jones wasn’t wearing his seatbelt at the time of the accident. The accident remains under investigation at this time.
Jones’ vehicle sustained severe damage, and it was towed from the scene by Halfmoon Towing. State police were assisted at the scene by the Port Matilda Fire Company and Emergency Medical Services.
