CLEARFIELD – A jury was to be selected Thursday morning for the civil trial of state Rep. Camille “Bud” George, D-74 of Houtzdale, and John Gallagher, manager of the Houtzdale Municipal Water Authority, but before that happened, the case settled.
Neither party in the case could be reached by telephone Thursday morning, and details of the agreement were not available.
The case was settled “without prejudice,” meaning that the case can never be filed again. A case that is settled “without prejudice” can be filed if the defendant does not follow through with the terms of the agreement.
The civil matter concerned an alleged altercation between the two men that was said to have happened at George’s office in the summer of 2005.
An investigation after the incident determined that no criminal charges needed to be filed.
