The Lawrence Township Supervisors discussed the possibility of revising their estimate for the safety fund millage. Planned for the November ballot, the supervisors voted last meeting to put a safety fund up for public vote. The fund will be money set aside specifically for the police department.
If passed, only half the millage can be applied towards police salaries. After giving it thought, Supervisor Ed Brown suggested that the currently proposed six mills may not be sufficient as the police force becomes fully staffed. Currently, the Lawrence Township Police Department is down on personnel. The supervisors decided to consider seven to eight mills.
