Dale John Matthews, 57, of Glen Richey, passed away Wednesday February 29, 2012 at his residence after a lengthy illness.
Born January 27, 1955 in Oakland, MD, he was the son of Clarence and Dorothy (Friend) Matthews. Mr. Matthews was a self employed carpenter and had also worked for R D Goss in Clearfield. He was a member of the Faith Bible Church in Lumber City.
On November 20, 1976 in Ashland, OH, he wed the former Cheryl A. Bowers who survives along with 2 children Kim Matthews and her companion Steve Ogden of Clearfield and Ken Matthews and his wife Windy of Glen Richey and two stepsons Ernie Cline and his wife Susan of Austin, TX and Eric Cline and his wife Allison of Fredericksburg, VA.
Also surviving are 8 grandchildren Christina Jordan, Tallon Cline, Morgan Green, MacKenzie Matthews, Gannon Matthews, Remy Matthews, Libby Cline and Addy Cline, along with 5 brothers and sisters. Doris Lord and husband Bill of Glen Richey, Don Matthews and wife Rose of Bruceton Mills, WV, Sue Rishel,  Rodger Matthews and wife Betty, and Lois Becker and husband Joe all 3 of Ashland, OH as well as several nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister Helen Dickerson.
Funeral Services for Mr. Matthews will be held at the Chester C. Chidboy Funeral Home, Inc. of Curwensville, on Saturday March 3, 2012 at 1:00 PM, with the Reverend Scott Schultz officiating. Interment will be in the Thompson Cemetery, Glen Richey.
Friends will be received at the funeral home on Friday March 2 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 PM, and Saturday from 12 Noon until time of services.
