DUBOIS – The City of DuBois had the first public hearing concerning the expected awarding of the 2012 Community Development Block Grant.
The Stifler-McGraw representative informed the city council that they should expect around $277,176 this year. The city received $314,973 in the fiscal year 2011. All municipalities were warned to expect a minimum of a 12 percent decrease in funds. John “Herm” Suplizio has been designated the contact person for the CDBG program. The exact amount would be released at a later date.
As per previous years and other communities, the City of DuBois has to spend at least 70 percent of the funds towards assisting low and moderate income people. A maximum of 18 percent of the funds can go to administrative costs.
Proposed projects included Goodwill Hose Company Project, recreational improvements at the ball fields, program administration and repair work to the public library.
