RICHMOND, Va. — Freshman Pat Manley (Arnold, Md.) of the Penn State men’s lacrosse team has been named CAA Rookie of the Week, the conference office announced Monday (Feb. 20).
Manley helped lead the Nittany Lions past Michigan, 16-9, in the team’s home opener on Saturday at the new Penn State Lacrosse Field. With the win, Penn State improved to 1-1 (0-0 CAA) on the season.
The attackman recorded two points (1g, 1a), as well as a ground ball and caused turnover, in the victory. The Arnold, Md., native, who also scored in his collegiate debut against then-No. 6 North Carolina, registered his second marker of the season during the Nittany Lions’ nine-goal third quarter. He later assisted on senior Jack Forster’s (Jenkintown) game-high fifth tally in the fourth frame.
Penn State will return to action on Sunday (Feb. 26) when they visit No. 2 Notre Dame. Opening faceoff is slated at 1 p.m.
