COOPER TOWNSHIP – A 60-year-old Orange City, IA man was transported to the Altoona Hospital with unknown injuries following a tractor-trailer accident at 2:42 p.m. Monday at exit 133 off Interstate 80 in Cooper Township.
According to the Clearfield-based state police, Arlen R. VanDyke, 60, of Orange City, IA was traveling eastbound along I-80. He was coming off the Kylertown exit, and for unknown reasons, he didn’t stop at the stop sign.
His tractor-trailer traveled through the stop sign and crossed over both lanes of state Route 53. It struck the guiderails before continuing to travel into a wooded area before coming to a rest.
VanDyke was wearing his seatbelt at the time of the accident. He’ll be cited for stop signs and yield signs through the district court. The tractor-trailer was towed from the scene.
