DUBOIS – The City of DuBois issued a reminder about snow removal at Monday’s City Council meeting. This was in response to the first major snow storm of the season.
City Manager John “Herm” Suplizio asked that citizens of the city move shoveled snow off to the side. He added a request to also not shovel snow onto the roads after they had been plowed as well.
The city has an existing ordinance, 1285, that prohibits placing shoveled snow either on city roads or right-of-ways. A portion of the ordinance was printed on the night’s agenda. The press’ copy of the agenda included the penalties for misplacing snow.
In a right-of-way can yield a $100-300 fine plus costs. Up to 30 days in jail is an alternative if unable to pay the fine plus costs. Placing snow on a road has a fine of $30 plus costs, or up to ten days in jail instead of the monetary penalty.
