COOPER TOWNSHIP – Moderate to minor injuries were reported following a four-vehicle accident at 4:50 p.m. Thursday along Interstate 80 at mile marker 133 in Cooper Township, the Clearfield-based state police reported.
According to the accident report, a 54-year-old Easton man was traveling on I-80 when he attempted to pass an ambulance on the right before cutting in front of an SUV. He lost control of his vehicle and struck the guiderails off of the left lane.
The man’s vehicle then struck a vehicle driven by Edward J. Downey Jr., 63, of Folsom and another by August J. Gamils, 71, of Catawissa. The Gamils vehicle was then forced into a commercial vehicle driven by Andy W. Stradley, 45, of Snow Shoe.
The Easton man sustained moderate injuries and wasn’t using the proper safety restraints. Downey and a passenger of the Gamils vehicle, Ellie M. Erlston, 45, of Danville sustained minor injuries.
Gamils and Stradley were not injured.
Police were assisted at the scene by PennDOT, Folmar Towing, Clearfield Emergency Medical Services and the Winburne Fire Company.
