Andrew Rebar, 89 of Houtzdale, passed away at 8:15 a.m., Friday, Jan. 13, 2012 at his residence. .
Born on June 8, 1922, at Houtzdale a son of the late Micklas and Julia (Hanicherick) Rebar. Mr. Rebar attended the Bigler Twp. High School and served in the Civilan Conservation Corp. No. 118, Penfield.
On Sept. 28, 1947 he wed the former June Ann Wilkinson in St. Mary’s Ukrainian Catholic Church, Ramey.

He served in the U.S. Marines as a Cpl during WW II in Guam, Iwo Gima and China and received the Bronze Star.
Mr. Rebar was a parishoner of St. Mary’s Ukrainian Catholic Church, Ramey.
He retired as a coalminer from Rushton Mining Company. He also worked as a mechanic for the William Gulbranson Garage, the former Harpster Chevrolet Dealership and Bezilla Dealership both of Philipsburg, the former Gaul Motors of Coalport and State Equipment of Chester Hill.
Mr. Rebar was a member and financial secretary of the United Mine Workers of America, Rushton Local 1520, Osceola Mills; I.B.E.W. Local 126; Our Lady of the Valley Council 10376 Knights of Columbus, Houtzdale ; Pope John Paul II 4th Degree Assembly Knights of Columbus, Clearfield; Houtzdale-Woodward Park Authority; Life member of the VFW Post 5020, Osceola Mills; Life Member of the William L. Dixon Marine Corp Det. and Marine Devil Dog, Clearfield
Mr. Rebar is survived by his wife, June Ann Rebar of Houtzdale, three daughters, Andrea Anderson and her husband Darrell, Osceola Mills; Susan Mondock and her husband Robert, of Osceola Mills; Kathleen McCoy, of Lumberton, TX; three sons, Andrew Rebar and his wife Susan of New Liberty; Daniel Rebar and his wife Patty of Ramey; David Rebar and his wife Kathy of Van Duzen, Houtzdale, RD; 15 grandchildren, Lynn, Steven, Andy, Paul, Amanda, Adam, Jody, Jessica, Sarah, Nickolas, Molly, Bernie, Nathan, Danielle and Kristina; great-grandchildren, Hannah, Oliva, Jason, Chase, Alex, Clayton Jr, Emma Grace and Valerie.
Also surviving are four brothers, Vincent Rebar and his wife, Helen of Phoenixville, PA; William Rebar of Curwensville; Leonard Rebar and his wife, Betty of Boardman; and Micklas Rebar and his wife Darlene of Osceola Mills; and two sisters, Julia A. Zendeck and her husband, Lawrence of Leesburg, VA; Mary Rose Rebar of Curwensville and numerous neices and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Rebar was preceded in death by a son-in-law, Bernard McCoy; two brothers, John and Paul and two sisters, Francis and Margaret.

Friends will be received at the Kruise Funeral Home, Inc., Ramey on Jan. 16 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. and Jan. 17 from 9-10:30 a.m. Parastas will be sung in the funeral home on Monday at 7:00 p.m., a Marine Corp memorial service will be held at 8:00 p.m. and the Knights of Columbus will conduct a memorial service at 8:45 p.m.in the funeral home.
Great Panachida service will be held at St.Mary’s Ukrainian Catholic Church, Ramey, at 11 a.m. on Jan. 17, with Fr. Anthony Balistreri officiating.
Interment Services will be held at St. Mary’s Ukrainian Catholic Cemetery Ramey, PA. The Osceola Mills Honor Guard will accord Military Honors at graveside. Condolences may be sent to: condolences@kruisefuneralhome.com.
