CURWENSVILLE – A fire that destroyed a Curwensville duplex and damaged another home has been ruled arson.
Trooper Mick McCracken, state police fire marshal, said the fire that started before 2 a.m. Thursday in the 624-626 State St. duplex was purposely set.
The duplex was not being occupied, and McCracken has not yet been in touch with the building’s owner, who lives in Altoona. He could not say whether the building was insured.
The home next door was moderately damaged as the fire spread. The home, which belongs to Rebecca Anderson, was insured, McCracken said.
Police continue to investigate the arson that saw firefighters still on the scene until about 10 a.m. Thursday.
