WESTOVER – Curwensville was unable to maintain the scoring pace it established in the first quarter and suffered a 40-28 loss to host Harmony in its Moshannon Valley League opener Thursday night.Â
The Golden Tide owned an 11-7 lead after eight minutes and stayed in front until Kamden Kruise buried a three-pointer at the buzzer to put the Owls ahead 19-18.Â
Curwensville (0-3) couldn’t catch Harmony (1-5, 1-1 MVL) in the second half, although the Owls didn’t pull away until the final four minutes.Â
Brett Gardner was high for the Golden Tide with eight points. Tanner Elensky and Kyle Johns had seven apiece.Â
Kruise and Nate Young paced the Owls with 11 and 10 points, respectively.Â
Curwensville’s next game, Wednesday at Punxsutawney at 7:45 p.m. in the nightcap of a double-header, is a recent addition to the schedule.Â
In the junior varsity game, Harmony prevailed 29-20. Gardner scored eight points for Curwensville.Â
