DUBOIS – On Tuesday the Clearfield County Economic Development Corporation held their annual luncheon at the New Fort Worth Restaurant. CCEDC CEO Rob Swales gave the membership gathered a rundown of the year’s accomplishments. As part of his presentation, Swales noted a number of partnerships that have helped the CCEDC succeed.
One of those partnerships was the focus of the luncheon’s presentation. Each year the presentation keys in on a certain aspect of economic development in Clearfield County. This year the presentation was given by busines students from Penn State DuBois. The CCEDC and Penn State DuBois have a long-standing working relationship with Penn State DuBois.
The students’ presentation was to research the supply chain aspect of the oil and gas industry. This gave the students the opportunity to work with both gas well companies, supply companies and local vendors of all sorts to create a document to help businesses still looking for an entry into the market.
Those taking part in the project were: Annette Walker, Cori Bus, Ryan Wehler, Kendra Chamberlin and Laura Breakey.
Swales also touched on the CCEDC’s highlights from 2011.
“We’ve really been keeping busy with all things oil and gas,” said Swales.
He touched on the ownership change/rennovation of the former Uni-Mart on Market Street. The site, now Market Square, has Carizo Oil and Gas as an anchor tenant. The project consisted of a number of items, including the removal of an underground storage tank, 100 percent funded through an EPA grant.
The CCEDC also oversaw the creation of RigMonkeyApp.com, a Web site with over 90 real estate sites listed aimed at the oil and gas industry.
“We’ve been full-bore,” said Swales.
