DUBOIS – Sandy Township Supervisors approved the 2012 budgets for the township and the municipal authority. The municipal authority’s budget was not altered from the original presentation. The township’s budget now has a half mill increase instead of the previous full mill increase.
The half mill increase will be towards the general fund. The total millage for 2012 will be 15.50 mills. General government is 12.50 mills, formerly 12.00 mills. Fire protection comes to 2.50 mills. The library will receive .50 mills.
Both budgets were approved by all supervisors. Supervisors Ray Anderson and Jim Jeffers stated objections to parts of the budget, namely the tax increase, but voted for it. Jeffers stating that portions of the budget marked miscellaneous could make up for the half mill, but would support it as the tax increase had been cut in half.
