CLEARFIELD – Justin E. Craig, 20, of Clearfield, was sentenced on Monday for is role in a burglary that took place on Feb. 15, 2005.
Craig received a two-five-year state prison sentence on the charge of burglary. Clearfield County President Judge Fredric J. Ammerman ordered Craig to pay restitution to the victim, and to submit to D.N.A. testing. Craig was also sentenced to five years state probation on a charge of criminal conspiracy to commit robbery, to run consecutive to the above sentence, and on the charge of criminal conspiracy to commit burglary he was sentenced to two years state probation to run consecutive to the earlier sentences.
According to the affidavit of probable cause, Craig and two others used a ladder to gain access to an elderly woman’s house through a second-story window. Once inside, they ordered the woman to hold a pillow over her face while they stole prescription medication and money.
One of the men, Thomas Allison, had a trial in Oct. and was found guilty by a jury of criminal conspiracy to commit burglary and criminal conspiracy to commit robbery. Russell Hurley III was placed in a state program for his part in the incident.
For a separate incident, Craig was also sentenced for incidents of two overall counts loitering and prowling at night time, three overall counts criminal attempt to commit theft from a motor vehicle, two counts of theft from a motor vehicle, criminal trespass, and purchase of liquor or malt or brewed beverages. Craig received probation for all charges.
