CLEARFIELD – A husband and wife were at Centralized Court on Wednesday for allegedly receiving and sending marijuana through the mail.
Dennis and Jacquelyn Glace are facing a number of drug-related charges in two separate cases.
According to court records, police began investigating the Glaces during July 2011, after the Postal Service became suspicious of parcels traveling between Curwensville and California. The inbound parcel was addressed to a post office box registered to Jackie Peters. Inspectors at the postal service referenced the drivers license number used to register the box and determined it belonged to Jacquelyn Glace.
On Aug. 22, a post office inspector spoke with a representative from the West Decatur Post Office. Investigators learned that Dennis Glace opened a post office box there for his business, Clearfield and Center Contracting. He reportedly stated that his wife, Jacquelyn Glace, would be picking up mail there as well.
According to the affidavit of probable cause, throughout the investigation, a number parcels were sent and received. Investigators checked the addresses against the names/companies listed on the parcels, and discovered that while the addresses did exist in the postal codes, the names/businesses associated with them did not.
On Nov. 17, the postal service became aware of a parcel addressed to “Jackie Peters”. The package weighed 7 pounds, 11 ounces. Drug canine Dakota was utilized, and alerted positive to the package containing a controlled substance. A Federal search warrant was obtained and utilized, and it was found that the package contained roughly three pounds of a leafy green substance. The substance field tested positive for marijuana.
The package was put back together for a controlled pick up. On Nov. 18 Jacquelyn Glace was taken into custody after shi picked up the package from the post office. A short time later, Dennis Glace was in custody as well. Through a consent search of their residence and vehicle, a second set of charges were filed as more drugs were reportedly found.
