DUBOIS – No tax increase for the City of DuBois in 2012, according to City Manager John “Herm” Suplizio. The taxes and budget for 2012 were read at the council meeting on Tuesday night. The meeting had been moved back a day due to seasonal activities.
The ordinances setting the taxes for next year are still in the reading phase. There are two different $5 taxes for being over 18 and living within the city. There is 88 mills levied against all taxable land, an additional 2 mills against taxable buildings.
The City of DuBois is projecting a total revenue of $9,351,435. Total expenditures are listed at $8,990,095.
“I think it is very important that the public knows the mayor held the line on taxes,” said Suplizio.
Suplizio explained that healthcare costs for the city had increased 21 percent this year, and there had been no increase in the city’s tax base.
