Dr. Matthew Rhode of Clarion University’s Department of Anthropology, Geology and Earth Science will present “Until They Are Home” at 6 p.m. Nov. 9 in Hart Chapel.
Rhode is a physical anthropologist serving as a temporary faculty member at Clarion. Prior to coming to Clarion, he had a five-year post-doctorate experience with the military unit that recovers and identifies remains of soldiers missing in action.
Rhode will discuss the work that he did on the identification of the World War II soldiers found in the Sierra Nevada range more than 60 years after they were lost. The discovery of these “icemen” has been detailed in a book and television documentary.
“Until They Are Home” is sponsored by the AGES department and the Anthropology Club. The presentation is free and open to the public.
