UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — Penn State’s Big Ten Leaders Division clash against Illinois on Saturday, Oct. 29 will kick at 3:30 p.m. in Beaver Stadium. The ABC regional telecast will air nationally on ESPN2 outside of the ABC coverage area. The contest also will air on the Penn State Sports Network and www.GoPSUsports.com.
The contest against the Illini (6-2, 2-2) is the No. 21 Nittany Lions’ ninth announced telecast of the season. Penn State (7-1, 4-0) will be making its sixth appearance of the season on an ESPN-owned network. The Alabama and Iowa clashes were ABC telecasts, the Indiana game was on ESPNU, the Temple game was on ESPN and the Eastern Michigan contest was on ESPN2.
The Big Ten Network televised the Nittany Lions’ last two wins over Northwestern and Purdue and additional Penn State games could be selected to air on the network, which is not available to Adams, Armstrong and Blue Ridge Cable customers in Pennsylvania and Ohio. BTN is available to approximately 80 million homes on more than 300 providers in the U.S. and Canada.
Penn State leads the series with Illinois, 14-4. The teams will annually meet as Big Ten Legends Division foes. Illinois began the season 6-0 but has lost to Ohio State and Purdue the last two weeks.
Penn State’s team and individual NCAA and Big Ten champions from 2010-11 will be honored at the Illinois game.
Penn State has appeared on TV in 211 of its last 213 games. All remaining Penn State kick times and TV information will be announced 6 or 12 days prior to game.
