HUSTON TOWNSHIP – A Philipsburg man was airlifted following an accident along Jack Straw Road on Nov. 2.
Philipsburg-based state police say that the man was traveling north and was descending a grade when a deer reportedly entered the roadway. The 19-year-old man swerved and entered the east berm. He attempted to reenter the roadway and and lost control of his vehicle. He traveled across both lanes of traffic and off the road before striking a tree. The vehicle then rotated before coming to rest.
The man was transported from the scene to a nearby area before being airlifted to Altoona Trauma Center for treatment of moderate injuries.
Police were assisted by the Port Matilda Fire Company and Port Matilda Emergency Medical Services.
Charges are pending against the man.
