DUBOIS – PennDOT is encouraging senior motorists to attend a CarFit clinic on Oct. 21 at the Best Western Plus Inn and Conference Center in DuBois to ensure they’re driving safely for life.
The clinic, which will run from 1:30 p.m. through 3:30 p.m., is sponsored by AAA, AARP and the American Occupational Therapy Association Inc. in cooperation with PennDOT, the Penn State DuBois Occupational Therapy Department and the Central PA Highway Safety Network.
Drivers who attend the clinic will learn whether they “fit” their cars well, with trained installers and Penn State DuBois occupational therapy students on-hand to ensure the seniors are traveling comfortably and safely.
Drivers can expect technicians to help make small adjustments to components of their vehicles, including the gas and brake pedals, steering wheel, seat, seat belt, and mirrors.
Clinic appointments can be made by calling Andrea Bierer at 814-490-5833, though appointments are not required to attend the clinic.
The seat check’s intent is to assist drivers in “fitting” their cars to them. Participants do not take part in a driving test.
