CLEARFIELD – The Clearfield County Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals is partnering with Timberland Federal Credit Union in Clearfield and DuBois to Make a Change for the Better, a three-week campaign to collect and count loose change to benfit the SPCA.
Until Oct. 21, donors may take their loose change to either Timberland FCU location, where it will be counted and placed in a special account for the SPCA, explained the organization’s treasurer, Tim Lanager.
“Who doesn’t have loose change just sitting around in jars or in drawers or tossed on top of the dresser? We hope everyone will gather their quarters and dimes and other coins for the animals and help us change their lives for the better,” Lanager said.
Campaign organizers said they hope Change for the Better will spur some friendly competiton between friends, classrooms, clubs, scout troops and even branches or departments of the same business.
“It will be fun to hear the stories of how long it took to amass the change and to see the variety of containers that carries it to the credit union,” Lanager added.
The SPCA is one of the last open door animal shelters left in Pennsylvania and takes in more than 2,000 animals each year. It has no parent organization and depends solely on dontions to operate.
