At 1:03 a.m. Saturday, a 30-year-old Madisonburg man was stopped after police observed him committing several traffic violations along state Route 3040 near Ardery Hollow Road. His vehicle crossed over the centerline and into the opposite lane of travel for oncoming traffic. He was charged with driving under the influence of a controlled substance. He was also charged with possession of a controlled substance after he was observed tossing a metal container into the roadside weeds. The metal container was retrieved and there were numerous heroin packets within. The accused was taken to the Centre County Prison where he awaits arraignment on the aforementioned charges.
