BROCKWAY — The Lady Tide knew they had a tough week ahead with two road matches against District 9 opponents on the slate.
After dropping a close 4-set match to Brockway 25-20, 23-25, 25-27, 25-27 Curwensville has to travel to undefeated Ridgway on Thursday to end a four match road trip.
Lady Tide Head Coach Sandy Bailor commented on the outcome of the tough loss and the match that looms ahead,” The match was full of long volleys but Brockway outhustled us and made us make the mistakes. The scores of the match indicate just how close the match was; Brockway covered the floor well and kept the ball in play. I was pleased with our net play and also at the serving line, but we struggled with our passing at crucial times of the match and that cost us points. Hopefully this is a wake up call for the girls that we need to stay focused at all times on the court. We have two days to get ready for our match with Ridgway who is currently undefeated. We have to be on the top of our game Thursday to have a chance to beat them. I told the girls that you don’t have to have the most explosive offense to win – you have to play smart, stay focused and play good defense and outhustle your opponent.”
