UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — The Penn State women’s tennis team has been honored as an Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) All Academic Team for the 2010-2011 season. This marks the third time in four years the Nittany Lions have earned such distinction.
In order to be eligible for the ITA All-Academic Team award, a program must have a cumulative team grade point average of 3.20 or above on a 4.0 scale.
In addition to the team’s accomplishment, five Nittany Lions represented Penn State as ITA Scholar Athletes for their accomplishments in the classroom last year. ITA Scholars must be varsity letter winners with a GPA of at least 3.50 on a 4.0 scale.
The Nittany Lions look to have more success on and off the court this season when they begin fall competition at the University of Pennsylvania Friday, Sept. 23 through Sunday, Sept. 25.
