RAMEY – A Brockway man was taken to Clearfield Hospital for moderate injuries following an accident on Sunday morning.
According to the state police in Clearfield, the 59-year-old man was traveling south on state Route 253. Police said he was traveling too fast for the road conditions and lost control of his vehicle. Police said he drove off the right side of the road and struck a utility pole. The police broke about three feet from the ground; the upper part of the pole became lodged inside the right rear window of the vehicle as it overturned and came to rest on its right side.
Police said the powerline was undamaged, just the utility pole. The road was closed for about four hours while Penelec removed and replaced the pole.
Police said the man suffered moderate injuries and that he wore his seat belt. The Brockway man was cited for a traffic violation.
Police were assisted at the scene by Houtzdale Fire Department.
