UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — MetroCast Communications and Big Ten Network (BTN) have announced that the network is now available to MetroCast customers in Berwick, Pocono and Schuylkill as part of the Expanded Basic package. BTN is on channel 31 in Berwick and Pocono and channel 22 in Schuylkill (as well as HD channel 731 in Berwick and Pocono).
The announcement was made by Tom Carey, MetroCast general manager, and Mark Silverman, BTN president.
Silverman said, "We’re very pleased to add MetroCast to our list of affiliates. MetroCast subscribers will now have access to the ultimate destination for Big Ten and Penn State sports, plus our extensive schedule of studio programming and original programming, bringing Penn State fans closer to their favorite university than ever before."
"The launch of The Big Ten Network is a great enhancement to MetroCast’s growing channel lineup," said Carey. "It adds real value to our video offering and responds to customer needs and interests in our service area."
MetroCast provides video, high-speed Internet and digital phone service.
Penn State Director of Athletics Tim Curley said he is "thrilled that more Penn Staters in Pennsylvania will have access to the Big Ten Network as the new school year gets under way. There are several thousand Penn State alumni in the cities served by MetroCast and they are passionate about watching the Nittany Lions, both in person and on television."
Multiple Penn State football games will air on BTN this season. The Nittany Lions’ season opener vs. Indiana State aired on BTN and the Oct. 22 primetime clash at Northwestern (7 p.m.) are among the more than 40 football games BTN will air this season. Additional Penn State games may be selected to air on BTN.
