CLEARFIELD – Clearfield County District Attorney, William A. Shaw, Jr., announced that West Point Cadet Shay Flanagan successfully completed a Summer Internship at the District Attorney’s Office.
Shaw stated that Cadet Flanagan is from Glen Richey and is entering his third year at the United States Military Academy at West Point. Shaw also said that as part of his summer duties with the United States Military Academy, Flanagan interned at the District Attorney’s Office during which time he observed numerous court proceedings and was instructed on the criminal justice system. Shaw also stated that Flanagan was provided the opportunity to visit and tour several area correctional institutions including, S.C.I. Houtzdale, the Quehanna Boot Camp, and the Moshannon Valley Correctional Center.
Shaw said that during his time at the District Attorney’s Office, Flanagan was to be exposed to as much information about the criminal justice system as possible in order to assist him when he is deployed overseas. Shaw stated that the exposure provided to Flanagan will help him better understand and more effectively participate in newly formed judicial systems while in other countries.
Shaw said it was an absolute honor to have Flanagan join the District Attorney’s staff this summer. Shaw also congratulated Flanagan on his courage and patriotism in joining the military. Additionally, Shaw stated that Cadet Flanagan was one of the nicest and most respectful young men he has ever met, and is confident that he will have a very promising military career.
